Can you come to my place in Eltrut? I got a small apartment there and don't really want to go anywhere right now.
[Denji wasn't really in the mood to be around other people besides her after the shit storm he immediately dealt with at home before being dragged back here.]
[The sentiment does cause him to smile a bit knowing all too well she would make good on that promise just to find him.]
I mean that would be pretty fricken hilarious but you don't gotta go waking up the whole neighborhood cause of me. It's the top floor of the yellow three story at the end of the housing district.
[It hadn't taken Mid too long to find his appointed household in question, slowly dragging himself off the couch where he'd been mopping in the wake of his return to Escordvi. Opening the door to greet his companion a forced smile creeps over the edge of his lips, moving off to the side to allow her entry with a wave of his hand.]
Hey...Guess I'm back, Mid. Did ya miss me?
[Instead of his usual, happy go lucky demeanor his voice was soft spoken, almost sad as he struggles to keep his composure. Before he returned here Denji was on the cusp of completely losing his shit and killing the man responsible for murdering his younger sister Nayuta who he'd been searching for aimlessly after their separation during the attack from the Chainsaw Man church's lackies. So needless to say he wasn't in the best of spirits.]
Hello, I hope that this letter is finding you well! You remind me quite a bit of your father, Cidolfus! Hohoho! Well, I do hope you've taken a liking to machines just as he has, and that you enjoy this gift with all your heart!
Happy Holidays,
Santa Claus
[Inside of her Christmas present is a book on wooden ship construction and a kit to build her own, miniature model ship!]
[At the recent Hideaway Crew festivities tied in with Mid's birthday celebrations, Denji ate his fill of cake, had a few drinks mingling with the various people he knew but most of all enjoyed his time with her. At some point he slipped away to place a small ornate wooden chest which was a unique little trinket in itself but the real treasure laid within. He always loved her long braided hair and happened across the golden hair cuff one day perusing the marketplace thinking it a fine gift. A small folded note could also be found along with it which read as follows.]
Happy birthday, Mid! Thanks for being there when I was about to completely lose it after I came back. Hope ya like the present I think it will look real cute on ya! Denji out!
Nothing that would normally make this place splinters, no!
[While there's plenty of things cooking, so to speak, she's working on designs at her desk at the moment, plenty of blueprints scattered about, but these have her attention at the moment. They look oddly dog-shaped, but that's neither here nor there.
Once she's in a good place to stop, Mid will jump up and bound on over to her dad, looping an arm around his.]
You're not in any trouble, yeah? Just a normal 'let's talk because I missed my completely innocent daughter' talk?
[She was pretty sure she hadn't done anything to get in trouble... recently...]
[..."Completely innocent daughter," eh? While he'll glance around her plans he won't be too nosy and pry. He can respect her privacy? But he will definitely arch a brow at that before chuckling.]
Suppose it might be more than just "normal."
[And then a pause because he wonders how Mid will actually feel and what she might think. No, perhaps she already suspects? Hell everyone would at this point, but there's a difference between a stranger's opinions and thoughts and his own daughter's.
Well he supposes he should just come out with it.]
[Before she can tell him to be out with it, he tells her. It takes her a moment, but if Cid was worried, he shouldn't have been, because Mid lights up almost immediately after.]
Did she?! Am I officiatin' it?! [Yes, she's still hung up on that.] I mean I guess if you tell me no, I'll be disappointed that I'm not but not disappointed that yer both finally there.
Books? I mean, I can lend you some engineering books if you'd like, but I can't really think of any that I find a favourite. Dad used to read to me an old Waloeder story, but I doubt you could find it here. Why do you ask, Josh?
You read just about anything, right? What about something with a lot of adventure! We live in a place with a lot of water now, so I bet there's a ton of books about swashbucking tales! Not that we aren't already living that, but! It could be fun to read one with lots of fantasy and adventure! Something to get your blood pumping!
Probably! I'm sure there'd be something like that for me, where a heroine goes to save the hero instead. I'd read that, actually. Let the princess save the prince instead!
[...couldn't that just be kind of their real life though?? Jill could save Clive's ass, easily, but reading it... that could be fun!]
