[Someone killed his sister?? Well, Mid didn't know he had one, but... still!!! Hearing that makes her frown deeply, knowing that now. Mid doesn't care one lick that he's upset about it, she would be too; though she also knows how it feels to not want to be vulnerable and cry in front of others— after her dad was killed, she very much felt the same. Those were emotions she didn't want anyone else to see, but... perhaps it meant he trusted her.]

Well they ain't here, right? If they do, I'll still beat the shit outta them! I'll get me dad and Enna to help, too! You know what they are, yeah? Don't doubt dad would prime an' electrocute the' snot outta them either. [She would be fine, because if something happened to her here with Cid and Benedikta here? With a soft sigh, Mid pats his head some, leaving her hand there to be comforting after.]

You've been through it, huh. Well, you got nothin' to worry about here, I'll make sure of that. I hope the cake cheered you up a bit though, figured it'd be to celebrate you not bein' gone but it became somethin' more like... a comfort.

In truth who knows what chaos would have ensued if he'd not been brought back here to Escordvi immediately after seeing his close companion's head served up on a platter, likely to kill anyone and everything that had something to do with Nayuta's death.

The way Mid's hand threads through his hair keeps him grounded as a soft sigh escaped his parted lips letting himself succumb to the comforting sensation. She had been the single best thing to happen to him here, someone he could wholly trust without any worry of betrayal or ulterior motives. A genuine soul who just liked him for him and not the devil buried within his chest like most others who merely pretended to get close to him only to try and steal it for themselves. Nodding his head subtly with his cheek pressed against the soft fabric of her leggings, Denji slowly opens his eyes shifting his weight to lay the back of his head in her lap looking up at her with a sincere smirk.]

Yeah...It's been Hell. Everyone I get close to just ends up either dead or wants to kill me.

[A brief pause before he continues on as a faint shade of blush creeps over his cheeks in mild embarrassment acting so vulnerable in front of her.]

[A light hearted chuckle emitting with a flash of his usual toothy grin starting to perk back up a bit now.]

Well, I won't kill ye, 'least not on purpose. I'd be mad if someone got you though, so don't let that happen, yeah? An' if you need t' talk to someone, just tell me. Don't know if I'll be lucky enough to already be buyin' cake, but I can at least lend an ear when you need it. Dunno about really kickin' ass, but I'd try for someone important.

[After all, it was nice having someone her age to actually talk to, and Denji was fun to be around, even if he was sad after... A Lot Going On. She could be there for him, help him, and make sure he was feeling better, but it felt like he really needed this.
